World Vision is looking for a Senior Accountant/ Accountant

In this role you will be responsible for the more complex activities associated with maintaining ledger accounts and for developing financial statements and reports. Help carry out our Christian organization’s mission, vision, and strategies. Responsibilities:

  • Keep Christ central in our individual and corporate lives. Attend and participate in the leadership of devotions, weekly Chapel services, and regular prayer.
  • Establish and maintain accounting records with appropriate supporting material; prepare and correct entries for general ledger reporting. Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly accruals. Ascertain whether company assets are properly accounted for and safeguarded from loss.
  • Reconcile more complex or difficult accounts that require in-depth analysis and research, including bank statements and inter-company general ledger accounts. Periodic review of internal controls
  • Prepare and provide appropriate accounting information and reports.
  • Produce and analyze financial statements, reviewing for completeness and alignment with contracts, guidelines and/or policies and make adjustments.
  • Prepare and file annual tax forms and reports with government agencies.
  • Coordinate problem resolution and provide technical guidance/training to other finance staff and customers as necessary.
  • Research and recommend new systems and procedures to handle new areas where no procedures exist, and handle special accounting programs.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with managers and staff.
  • Remain current and increase knowledge in related areas utilizing self-study and/or continuing education efforts.
  • Develop a role appropriate understanding of the international World Vision partnership and use this context to inform communications, actions, decisions and solutions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work collaboratively with team members when assigned to work as part of a team.
  • Keep informed of organizational announcements, activities and changes via regular reading of the WVUS Intranet and other corporate communication tools.

Job Requirements:

Required Experience

Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field or equivalent work experience (eight years). In addition to education or education equivalent, requires a minimum of 5 years of private/corporate accounting work experience; or 2-3 years where work experience includes at least one year in public accounting. Education/experience must include complex bank reconciliations, general ledger, financial statements, and/or government reports. Strong technology skills are critical, particularly expertise with Microsoft Excel.

*In some instances, we may be willing to consider high performing individuals who do not meet the minimum requirements for a Senior Accountant at an Accountant level. Minimum qualifications for an Accountant are: Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field or equivalent work experience in accounting (eight years). In addition to education or education equivalent, requires a minimum of one year of private/corporate or public accounting work experience.

**In rare cases, a limited term position may convert to regular full time position based on business need.
